Bulls to face Leinster in another Dublin decider

SARugbymag.co.za readers believe the Vodacom Bulls will beat the Glasgow Warriors to set up a second consecutive URC final against Leinster in Dublin.

In Saturday’s semi-finals, the Bulls take on table-topping Glasgow at Murrayfield (3:30pm SA time) before defending champions Leinster host the Stormers at the Aviva Stadium (6:30pm SA time).

In a SARugbymag.co.za poll this week, 47% of readers predicted a final between Leinster and the Bulls. Leinster vs Glasgow received 25% of votes, Stormers vs Bulls 23% and Glasgow vs Stormers just 5%. chickenroadslot.pro

The Bulls lost last season’s final to Leinster at Croke Park 32-7. However, they will take heart from the fact that they upset the Irish giants 27-26 at the RDS Arena in the semi-finals of the inaugural 2021-22 URC.

The Bulls also beat Leinster 39-31 when the teams last met, at Loftus back in October, although the visitors were without their British & Irish Lions players.

The Cheetahs remain uncertain whether they will have the services of Springbok scrumhalf Faf de Klerk for the Currie Cup.

De Klerk recently signed a two-year deal with the Free State outfit and has already spent time training with the squad, but Cheetahs coach Frans Steyn admits his availability could depend on Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus’ plans.

With Cobus Reinach, Grant Williams and Morné van den Berg among the scrumhalves currently battling injuries, the Springboks are facing a shortage of experienced options ahead of the international season.

“I don’t know what Rassie’s plans are,” Steyn said. “A guy must wait and see what happens there and whether we’ll have him for the Currie Cup. I don’t know that either.

“There are a lot of injuries at scrumhalf. It would be great to have him here as soon as possible, but we’ll have to wait and see.”

Despite the uncertainty, Steyn has already seen the influence De Klerk can have on the squad.

“He immediately came in and started helping the nines and 10s,” said Steyn. “He got involved straight away and I think it’s going to be very good for our team with him, Jaco van der Walt, Marco Jansen van Vuren and Rewan Kruger around.

“We can make the younger guys better with the experience we now have in the group.”

Steyn added that De Klerk is unlikely to feature immediately in the Toyota Challenge, which begins on Friday when the Cheetahs face Portuguese side Lusitanos.

Lusitanos are, in effect, a Portugal A side and feature six players who were part of Portugal’s squad for the historic Test against the Springboks in Bloemfontein in July 2024.

Le Sénégal remporte la CAN U17 2026 au terme d’une finale haletante face à la Tanzanie. Accrochés pendant le temps réglementaire (1-1), les Lionceaux ont finalement fait la différence lors de la séance des tirs au but en s’imposant 4-2 ce mardi au Maroc.

La rencontre avait pourtant idéalement commencé pour la Tanzanie. Très entreprenants dès les premières minutes, les Tanzaniens ont trouvé l’ouverture du score dès la 7e minute, grâce à Mihambo, prenant de court la défense sénégalaise et mettant rapidement la pression sur les Sénégalais. Touchés mais pas abattus, les Lionceaux ont progressivement repris le contrôle du match. Plus dominateurs dans le jeu, les Sénégalais ont fini par être récompensés avec l’égalisation en seconde période grâce à Dione (63′), relançant totalement cette finale très disputée.

Malgré plusieurs occasions de part et d’autre, aucune des deux équipes n’a réussi à reprendre l’avantage avant la fin du temps réglementaire. Il a donc fallu recourir à la séance des tirs au but pour départager les deux sélections.

Dans cet exercice, les Sénégalais se sont montrés plus efficaces et plus sereins. Les Lionceaux ont transformé quatre tentatives contre deux pour la Tanzanie, s’offrant ainsi un nouveau sacre continental.

Avec ce succès, le Sénégal confirme son statut de référence du football africain chez les jeunes et conquiert son titre continental après son premier sacre décroché en 2023.
